Yeehaw! Introducing the RideKC Bike Bike Wrangler Program, an initiative to maintain high-quality public spaces and provide a way for locals to directly support the creation of a top-notch bikeshare system here in Greater Kansas City.
Coming January 1, 2025
Bike Wranglers are existing RideKC Bike Monthly Members who have the opportunity to earn a free Monthly Membership by returning RideKC Bikes parked Out-of-Hub to designated RideKC Bike hubs. A Bike Wrangler receives one Return-to-Hub Point after they return an Out-of-Hub vehicle to a designated RideKC Bike hub.
By earning 20 Return-to-Hub Points in a calendar month, a Bike Wrangler qualifies for a free Monthly Membership that is redeemable for the subsequent month. Bike Wranglers who earn 20 Return-to-Hub Points in a calendar month will be emailed a promo code to redeem their free Monthly Membership. This email will be manually sent by RideKC Bike’s customer support team.
Do I need to sign up?
Anyone with a RideKC Bike Monthly Membership can become a Bike Wrangler. Earn one Return-to-Hub point for each stray RideKC Bike you corral and lock up at a designated hub. Once you have earned 10 Return-to-Hub Points you automatically become a Bike Wrangler! After that, you will receive a special automated email after each trip ends so you can track your progress while you help your community.
Do points roll over?
Return-to-Hub Points do not roll over. Points reset to zero on the first day of each month. A Bike Wrangler will only be able to earn one free Monthly Membership per month. Instead, any additional points will be applied to increasing your allowance of free daily ride time!
How can I earn more than an hour of ride time?
Dedicated Bike Wranglers can earn more than an hour of ride time by returning more than 20 stray RideKC Bikes. Here is the break down:
Additionally daily minutes also do not roll over. These extra minutes will only last one renewal period.
Tip: For your Return-to-Hub Points to count, the trip to the hub needs to last longer than 3 minutes and the bike must be reporting "out-of-hub" on our systems. Due to GPS buffers, bikes parked near a hub may already identify as "in-hub" even if the bike is not locked to the rack. It is best to wrangle bikes that are at least a block away from the nearest hub for the return to count.
Thank you for your partnership! We are confident that these updates will get more people biking more often. Please send us an email at info@ridekcbike.com if you have any questions.
